Jehovah Nissi.... hey i need some peace!!

Huh? With that title, you might be wondering what the heck I'm talking about.. well, I've been under a lot of stress recently at work, and been working a lot of hours as well.. not much sleep, been worrying, freaking out.. on goes the list..

I emailed a friend gave her some details, and asked her to pray. Gave me some great advice - take it one day at a time, otherwise the enemy will try to overwhelm you.

In my pastor's message earlier this week, he quoted many verses dealing with fear.. the one that "stuck" was, God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind..
Some of the things I told my friend that I needed included peace of mind.. So I've been quoting this verse thru-out the week as things have intensified to a level I've never experienced before.

This morning, I was super tired & I forgot my bus pass so I had to pay cash.. then there's the weather that's been getting on my LAST nerve! I sat on the bus trying to just calm myself & started having an interesting conversation with the Lord in my spirit. I heard him say finally, I am Jehovah Nissi.. oh.. ok! I was like, yes - I need peace of mind!! And he also kept saying, Be Still and know I am God.. okayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy...! so I calmed down..
If you don't know what the different names of God mean, then this won't make much sense I guess, but I'll explain here in a moment.
Later on I was chatting with a Christian co-worker & mentioned this to her.. She said - that means God is WITH you.. ohhhhh (next thought.. "duhhhhhh"!).. Jehovah-Shalom means God is my peace.. (I knew this, but had forgotten which meant which & got the names mixed up!). I laughed. When I left work that afternoon, I kept laughing because it was actually kind of funny.. The more I thought about it, the funnier it was (to me). I also thought about how clear I heard Him in the morning, reasurring me with what He'd said.
The thing is, what I really needed to know in order to HAVE peace, was to first know He is WITH me..!
Now why its taking me so long to get this basic concept in me I don't know.. guess I am a bit of a slow learner... Thankfully He is patient!

Last thing - there's this song that Matt Redman sings - You Never Let Go.. When I got home from work I got my laptop set up, plugged my iPod in while still thinking about the whole Jehovah Nissi/Shalom mix up. Next thing I know, I hear this song playing. This song is super special for other reasons as well. My friend (but really more like my own brother), and former worship leader Carey Mills & I, sang this song together during our last service as New Beginnings Church..
"..Lord you never let go of me..."

I am tired as all get out, but I know my Jehovah Nissi is with me.
